Stoneleigh-Burnham School Announces Martha Neubert as Director of Equity and Inclusion

April 5th, 2024

After an extensive search, Stoneleigh-Burnham School is excited to announce that Martha Neubert will serve as our next Director of Equity and Inclusion. Martha brings more than twenty-five years of rich experience in New England independent boarding and day schools serving in dorms, coaching, developing curriculum, advising student organizations, and leading DEI work. Martha has also presented at national conferences and been recognized at her previous schools by students and colleagues for outstanding work.

Martha grew up in a family of educators, clergy, travelers, and small business owners. In addition to going fishing whenever possible, she is an avid traveler, reader, and word puzzler. Martha holds a BA in American Cultural Studies from Bates College and a M.A.T. from Smith College.

From her cover letter:

“Without question, my travel experiences and global education have come to define my personal core, my worldview and, consequently, my educational philosophy. To engage with others, to express independent ideas, to make broad and deep connections – these are conditions of excellence. To me, the School’s mission is situated in a kind of radical optimism needed in the nation and world today, generally, and in delivering the education of girls, specifically – particularly in supporting their development as engaged citizens of an increasingly global community.”

We look forward to Martha joining the SBS community for the 2024-25 school year!
