Debate & Public Speaking Achievements

Stoneleigh-Burnham students consistently perform at a level that earns recognition on the world stage. Their dedication and competitive strength have led SBS students to qualify for the World Championship throughout the program’s history.

The World Individual Debating & Public Speaking Championship (WIDPSC) – Known informally as Worlds – is one of the most competitive global competitions for high school students, bringing together top debaters and speakers from around the world. 

Competitor Spotlight 
Maeve Noble '26

With nearly 200 speakers competing from around the world, Maeve was a stand-out competitor at the 2026 competition held in Bristol, England. Based on preliminary scores, Maeve finished 28th overall, with an impressive 12th in persuasive speaking and 6th in impromptu speaking. 

A particular strength of Maeve’s speaking style is her willingness to be deeply personal and open. Whether through humor or vulnerability, she draws on her own experiences to create speeches that resonate with her audience.
