Convocation Marks the Start of the New School Year

Stoneleigh-Burnham School celebrated its Convocation on Monday, September 4th at 8:30 a.m. in the Gallery.

Convocation is a formal gathering of the Stoneleigh-Burnham School community that marks the beginning of the academic year. This event warmly welcomes new students to the school and acknowledges the new senior class. Convocation serves as a platform to emphasize our core values, including a commitment to doing one's best, adherence to the Honor Code, and the importance of fostering a strong sense of community.

During the ceremony, the Honor Code and the explanation of the code were read aloud before students were invited to sign the pledge.  Student speakers included the president of the senior class, who spoke about new beginnings, and the president of the Student Council (Stu-Co), who

delivered a speech on why the Honor Code is a part of our community, with the two vice-presidents of Stu-Co who read the Honor Code.

After the ceremony, students began the year by heading off to their first classes while family and friends were invited back to the Blue Room for a reception. This year, for the first time in school history, the event was live-streamed. A recording of the event is available below:
