Welcome

On Wednesday, January 25th, the Stoneleigh-Burnham Board of Trustees announced the selection of Lauren (Laurie) Lambert as the next Head of School. She will succeed Stephanie Luebbers, the current Head of School, on July 1, 2023. 

A graduate of Denison University with a BA in English and History, and Middlebury College with an MA in English, Laurie comes to Stoneleigh-Burnham from the Winchendon School, where she is currently Head of School. She brings over 30 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and educational leader to her work at Stoneleigh-Burnham. Her career has included a broad range of academic, admissions, and administrative leadership roles at several outstanding independent schools, including the Taft School, Blair Academy, and Montclair Kimberley Academy.

Following an international search for candidates, Laurie was voted in unanimously by the Board of Trustees after a recommendation from the Head of School Search Committee, chaired by Allison Porter ‘89. In correspondence with the Board of Trustees and the Search Committee, Laurie wrote, “I wholeheartedly embrace the focus on girls’ voices, the clear vision for equity, diversity, and justice, and the profile of a student that celebrates multi-dimensional learning, aspirational leadership, and commitment to the community. I am looking forward to the journey ahead as we continue to build on the extraordinary Stoneleigh-Burnham School foundation in order to ensure that our students can become their best selves.“ 

Laurie will join a committed community of administrators, faculty, and staff, as well as an engaged Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is assembling a transition team to ensure that Laurie is fully prepared to step into her role as Head of Stoneleigh-Burnham School on July 1, 2023. As part of the transition plan, the School will provide several opportunities for members of our community to meet Laurie and welcome her to the community.
