Sophie Jamison, Entrepreneur and Social Media Maven, to Speak at Stoneleigh-Burnham School Alumnae Lecture Series
May 13th, 2024
Stoneleigh-Burnham School is thrilled to announce that Sophie Jamison, Chief TikTok Officer at Made By Gather, one of Adweek's 35 Women Trailblazers, and Forbes 30 Under 30, will be the featured speaker for the SBS Alumnae Lecture Series on May 23rd, 2024. A student's request to feature an entrepreneur led to Ms. Jamison's invitation to speak at SBS.
Jamison's entrepreneurial journey began as a high school student in central Massachusetts, where an internship at Hasbro ignited by her love of all things Nerf, sparked her interest in creating a YouTube channel and digital marketing. It was on YouTube she developed the name she is most known by to young fans, Sophie Lightning. Leveraging this experience and the time afforded her to develop Instagram content during the pandemic, she launched her TikTok channel, posting two videos a day. By the end of 2020, she had amassed a following of 2 million, leading Nerf to hire her as their first-ever Chief TikTok Officer.
In 16 months, Jamison built Nerf's TikTok presence from the ground up. Named an Adweek Top 35 Women Trailblazer and Forbes 30 Under 30 for advertising, she is now the Chief TikTok Officer at Made By Gather, where she leads influencer marketing, content creation, and paid social initiatives.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sophie Jamison to Stoneleigh-Burnham School to share her knowledge and story with our community,” said Kathleen Tuck Fontaine ’83, Director of Alumnae Relations & Family Engagement at Stoneleigh-Burnham School.
Jamison's lecture will delve into her experiences in the ever-evolving world of social media, the importance of authenticity and engagement, and the challenges and rewards of creating your own path through entrepreneurship.
