Accomplices for Intersectional Justice (AIJ)

A space for students to develop cultural competency and critical social justice and liberation accomplice skills.

Blue Key Ambassadors

Blue Key Ambassadors is a Stoneleigh-Burnham organization supporting the admissions and enrollment efforts, ensuring we share the best of SBS with prospective students and families. The Ambassadors are currently enrolled students specially chosen for their enthusiasm for and involvement in SBS community life. Blue Key members are responsible for touring prospective students and families, assisting with special events (in person and virtual), connecting with prospective and enrolled students via informal Meet-Ups, and hosting class visits, among other opportunities. 

Whether on campus in person, at an event or meet-up, or via email, Blue Keys are always ready to answer questions and share their unique SBS experiences.

Business Club

For students interested in entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, and an assortment of business-related careers, Stoneleigh-Burnham offers a student-lead Business Club.

Community Service & Sustainability (CSS)

A group dedicated to building the SBS community's awareness of local, neighboring, and world issues and assisting those in need.

Minerva | The Stoneleigh-Burnham School Literary & Art Magazine

Minerva is an annual publication of student writing and artwork.

Mathematics Club

Gives students the opportunity to work together on challenging and unique math problems and to prepare for and enjoy math competitions.

Multicultural Club (MCC)

A space where students from different nationalities and cultures come together to share and learn about each other's cultures.

Robotics Club

The Robotics Club welcomes students with diverse levels of experience in both programming and robot engineering to learn, practice, and explore their skills in each vocation. As a student-led environment exploring similar interests, members are encouraged to work with and learn from one another, and are provided resources and tools to begin or further their understanding. 

The Robotics Club utilizes Visual Studio Code as an integrated development environment and source-code editor, with a focus on the Python programming language. Individuals experienced in using other source-code editors and programming languages are welcomed.

Sententiae | Stoneleigh-Burnham School’s Student-Run News Site

The student-run periodical which aims to bring information, news, opinions, and stories to the SBS community.

Student Alumnae Relations Society (STARS)

Offers students an opportunity to step into leadership roles, a chance to learn about the history of SBS and maintain the School’s traditions, network directly with alumnae, and work to create a philanthropic culture within the school community.

Student Council (StuCo)

The governing student body involved in putting forth proposals to improve student life and working with administrators to ensure the best possible and most meaningful experience for all students.

Affinity Groups

Gender & Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

A group for LGBTQIA+ identifying students and their allies that provides the opportunity for dialogue around gender, sexuality, identity, intersectionality, and community.

Learning Differences & Neurodivergence Alliance (LDNA)

A space for neurodivergent students to meet and share experiences, advice, and support; serves as a platform to educate the community about neurodiversity.

Students of Color (SOC)

A group that supports any student of color interested in joining a broad conversation around identity, culture, and social justice.

Traditions

Bigs and Littles

A Senior (Grade 12) is the Big while the Juniors (Grade 11), Sophomores (Grade 10), Freshmen (Grade 9), and Middle Schoolers (Grades 8 & 7) are the Littles. Bigs and Littles form a unique bond during orientation and support one another individually and as a group throughout the year.

Convocation and Signing of the Honor Code

The formal opening of school ceremony for the student body, faculty, staff, and families. Welcome to the new academic year!

Mountain Day

A surprise day off from classes in the fall that begins with Bigs treating their Littles to breakfast, followed by the entire community spending the day together hiking and enjoying other activities.

Team Night

Held at the end of each trimester, this event celebrates each athlete’s effort and success on and off the field, court, trail, studio, theater, and barn.

Secret Snowflake

Traditionally held the week before winter break, members of the community can participate anonymously by doing special things for their ‘Secret Snowflake’ during the days leading up to winter break. On the last day of school before break begins, Secret Snowflakes reveal their identities and present a small gift to their Snowflake.

Adopt-a-Family

Led by Student Council, the SBS student body works with Adopt-A-Family of Franklin County, Massachusetts to support a local family during the holiday season.

Spirit Week

Sponsored by the Student Council (StuCo) in mid-winter, Spirit Week dictates a different theme each day and ends the week with a competition among classes.

100 Nights

Held one hundred nights before graduation, the Grade 12 students are honored as future alumnae with a special dinner and ceremony.

Junior Ring Ceremony

A celebration of the junior class as they receive their school rings.

Founders' Day

A spring day when the Middle School honors the founding class from 2004.

Spearth Day

A combined celebration of Earth Day and spring. The day begins with Littles treating their Bigs to breakfast, followed by community service work, a talent show, and a student-led fair celebrating fun and friendship.

Victory Bell

Rung upon an SBS victory in athletics, academics, debate & public speaking, equestrian, or any other competitive pursuit. Go, Owls!

Moving Up Ceremony

A year-end ceremony celebrating the Grade 8 students who are transitioning from Middle School to Upper School.

Vespers

Held on the penultimate night of the academic year, the Grade 12 students bid farewell to the SBS community and pass the leadership of the school on to the Grade 11 students in a symbolic lantern ceremony.

Awards Ceremony

A year-end ceremony honoring students academically, artistically, and athletically.

Senior Dinner

A year-end celebration for Grade 12 students hosted by the Head of School.

Commencement

The formal graduation ceremony for the Senior class. Congratulations, graduates!

Alumnae Specific Traditions
