When was your first year at SBS?
2022 was my first year.

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
I enjoy the pond by the barn because of all the wildlife. I heard community members saw otters there earlier in the year, and I hope that I'll get to see one someday, even though I also heard that the alleged otter was actually a muskrat.

What's your favorite meal served in the Dining Hall?
I like a lot of the vegetarian options with lentils - I've always felt intimidated by cooking with them myself at home.

What's your favorite SBS tradition?
I love being able to participate in Mountain Day, and I am looking forward to experiencing the many other traditions throughout the academic year.

If you weren't in your current role at SBS, what other opportunities, professionally or personally, would you like to explore?
I really enjoy nature, so if I had more free time I would like to volunteer or work in a national park somewhere!

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
My office in the Fitness Center is a great place to be! There is a ton of natural light and a beautiful view of the sun setting over the fields. I also get to enjoy watching students sled on the back hill in the winter!

What's your favorite SBS tradition?
I love that we celebrate so many "National Days" here at SBS. (National Pickle Day, National Peanut Butter Day, etc.). It's always a nice little surprise on some of the mundane week days.

Who in the community to do you turn to for help/support and why?
The nurses in the Health Center have been my support system while I navigate my first year at SBS. They are always willing to help when needed! Athletic Director Scott Gray has also been a fountain of information whenever I need extra support.

What's a moment of joy you have experienced while at SBS?
Any time I see a student return to their sport after an injury, or listening to a student talk about something positive about their day.

What is something that surprised you about SBS?
Two things that have surprised me so far during my time at SBS are the amazing community feeling that is created on campus and the talent that our students possess. The first concert I went to and the first showcase at the barn I saw, I was literally blown away by what our students can do!

I would love to travel more and explore the coast of Maine and the National Parks out west.

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
I like the campus grounds and the pond in the summer. I like to try to identify the different plants that grow in that area, and l love to see the red winged blackbirds and bluebirds on campus. There is also a unique view from the tennis courts that feels like a plateau, you get the perspective of being on top of a little mountain.

When was your first year at SBS?
2022 was my first year.

If you weren't in your current role at SBS, what other opportunities, professionally or personally, would you like to explore?
Anything that would allow me to get to know students better than is possible in a few minutes across the Health Center half-door. Like helping students who struggle with writing and with executive function issues, co-leading stress-management and other groups, or co-facilitating a book-based group.

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
I do love Tarbell Terrace. It's just so beautiful - so expansive - the trees, the grass, the sky! The carpet of leaves in the fall, and the students sledding in the winter!

What's your secret talent?
I can wiggle my ears and raise just one side of my lip. These talents have not gotten me very far in life.

Who in the community to do you turn to for help/support and why?
Jenny Potee most of all, because she knows all the answers to my questions! Sara Gibbons, because she knows the students so well and has such good instincts about what would work for the students, and because she is unfailingly available, good humored, patient and supportive. Nicki, the athletic trainer because she is so experienced and knowledgeable about injuries and orthopedic issues. Kate and Merideth for their understanding of the inner lives of the students.

What is something that surprised you about SBS?
How warm and close the relationships between students are, and between employees and students. It didn't surprise me exactly, but it makes me love SBS!
