Varsity Basketball Team 2014-15

The Varsity Basketball team brought home its 4th River Valley Athletic League championship on Thursday, beating Dublin 53-35.

The team played a strong game from the outset, already leading 28-8 with two minutes left in the first half. As Megan Gardner ’16 writes, “We played collectively as a team and the win was definitely deserved. Winning felt even better because no one thought we could do it.”

As first in the league, SBS had progressed automatically to the semifinals, where the team defeated Eagle Hill 71-36. The Owls have had a successful streak in the RVAL league, and this game marks the 4th championship in as many years.

The turnout on Thursday was impressive, stands crowded with excitement and nervous energy that fueled the players. Katlyn Grover ’16 accepted the RVAL trophy to an incredibly enthusiastic audience. She writes, “It felt awesome to win the game, especially knowing that everyone worked really hard the entire game and nobody let up. We also looked and played like a team. We really earned the win.”
