2014_IEAChampsNov15Both Upper and Middle School Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) teams competed to great success at the IEA show hosted at home on Saturday, November 15th. Against tough competition from nine other school or barn teams, the Upper School team placed first (Champion) and against a field of eight school or barn teams, the Middle School team earned second (Reserve Champion). (Individual highlights are below). IEA Coach and Director of Riding Mina Payne Williams ’78 said, “Both teams are getting into the groove of the season. They are really beginning to understand the nature of IEA competition, and as a team, they are really coming together which is evident in our success so far.”

With this win and their early season success, the Upper School team has already exceeded the 20 points they need to qualify for the Zone 1, Region 12 Semifinals to be hosted at home on February 28, 2015. The Middle School team has earned 11 of the 20 points they need to qualify, but with two shows remaining in their competition schedule (Windcrest Farm on December 6th and Mt. Holyoke on December 14th), they are hopeful they can achieve the points they need.

Additionally, ten of fifteen Upper School IEA team members and three of the five Middle School IEA team members have already qualified individually to compete in the semifinals.

Both teams will next compete on December 6th at Windcrest Farm in Connecticut.
