Two SBS students have been recognized for their artwork and writing in a statewide competition of the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Isabela Cusano ’19 won Regional Silver Key Award for two pieces of writing and Rosa Newshore ’21 received Honorable Mention for a piece of artwork she created. In the category of Journalism, Isabela won a Regional Silver Key Award for her piece titled, “Sexual Abuse Re-Visited at Private Girls’ School.” She also won a Regional Silver Key in the category of Critical Essay for her paper titled, “Study Abroad and the Veins of Colonialism,” which is her Extended Essay for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program at SBS. Rosa received Honorable Mention for her needle-felted fiber piece, “Garden Landscape,” (shown below). Both students’ work will be included in the Scholastic Art and Writing Exhibition and acknowledged at the Awards Ceremony in March at Tufts University.
