For over 20 years, Stoneleigh-Burnham School has offered a summer Dance Intensive for Middle and High School Students. SDI is appropriate for intermediate and advanced dancers.

The Intensive features a full day of dance with breaks for meals and an afternoon swim. Each day centers on studio instruction in ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, and repertory sessions to prepare for a performance at week’s end. Special presentations, dance films, trips to the local ice cream stand, and campus activities help girls unwind with friends after a busy day in the studio. Each week also sees an outing to the International Dance Festival at Jacob’s Pillow in Lee, MA seeing up-and-coming and world-renowned companies on the Inside/Out and main stages.

While our regimen is rigorous, we do not require an audition for admission. Students should prepare for the physical demands of a full day of daily lessons and rehearsals, and a week of intellectual immersion in dance. We believe our dancers learn best in a non-competitive environment, and we subscribe to a community ethic where we strive to always care for ourselves and one another.

Dancers will enjoy:

  • Two daily technique classes
  • Two daily repertory classes
  • Personal attention in small classes to address technique and performing skills
  • Campus amenities, including our fitness center and pool
  • The stunning setting of our 100-acre campus
