Stoneleigh-Burnham School received an Honorable Mention in a high school video contest sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA). The contest, “Get In the Game and Vote!”, is part of LWVMA’s election 2018 statewide voter engagement initiative. View the video here.
To help get out the vote for the 2018 Massachusetts elections, the League invited Massachusetts high school students to create 30-second public service announcements encouraging eligible voters to register and turn out at the polls.
The SBS video was created by Bri Rooks ’18, Ira Hysi ’20, To’Landa Torres ’18, Annalie Gilbert Keith ’18, Maria José Campos ’20, Clara Richardson-Omamo ’18, Frannie Joseph ’18, Lillian Ying ’18, and ElizabethLaValley ’18.
The students are invited to an award ceremony for the winners at the Massachusetts State House in June, when they will be recognized for the achievement and the school will be presented with a prize.
The contest was sponsored by the LWVMA Citizen Education Fund, which supports programs designed to encourage the active and informed participation of citizens in democracy and increase understanding of public policy issues. Read more about the contest and winners on the LWVMA website.
