The Stoneleigh-Burnham Alumnae Board held their first on campus meeting of the academic year on Saturday, September 21. President Kate Strousse ’13 opened the meeting with a bonding exercise, Head of School Stephanie Luebbers gave an update on the start of the year and upcoming projects, and Director of Development and Alumnae Relations Susan Mattei reviewed the past fiscal year’s alumnae engagement, fundraising results, and our 150th Anniversary celebrations.

Kristen Mariotti, Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management gave a presentation on current admissions travels and insight into her department and their plans for the current year. The board reviewed the past year’s alumnae events, outreach and fundraising, and continued work on the new Alumnae Ambassador Program and Reunion planning for June 2020.

Leaders from the Student Alumnae Association (SAA) sat in on the board meeting. President Beatrice Brynda ’20, along with Vice Presidents Sofia Sherman ’20 and Helen (Jinying) Xie ’21 joined the board members to learn about this year’s goals for the Alumnae Board, as well as offer a student perspective. The Student Alumnae Association works closely with the Development and Alumnae Relations office and alongside the Alumnae Board on many projects, including fostering connections between alumnae and the School as well as relationships with current students. SAA members assist in fundraising though their annual phonathons, and are invaluable in the implementation of on campus alumnae events. Through SAA, students gain a better understanding of the value and importance of alumnae continuing their relations with the School, a deeper appreciation of the difference volunteering can make for SBS, and will make wonderful future candidates for the Alumnae Board or Board of Trustees.
