Kristen Peterson
Dean of Students and Residential Life

Kristen has a rich background in private boarding schools where she has worked in student life, residential life, athletics, admissions, and development arenas. She worked in the highly respected leadership development program at Suffield and initiated two girls’ support programs; she was also their first “Green Dean,” supporting environmentally stewardship initiatives on campus. Similarly, she worked at Miss Porters in curriculum development for the Sarah Porter Leadership Institute, founded the Captain’s Club for leadership development of student athletes, and taught in the Health, Wellness and Leadership program. As an accomplished high school and college athlete, Kristen has coached field hockey and/or lacrosse at the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels at each stage of her career. All along, she has worked and lived in dorms and served as a faculty advisor to students. Kristen is a graduate of The Gunnery, has a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Anthropology, and is a 2017 candidate at Dartmouth for a master’s degree in Liberal Studies. She also has two certificates from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Most recently, Kristen has served as Director of Alumni Relations at Mercersberg, and she is thrilled to the returning to student-centered work. Kristen and her husband, Jon, live on campus with their dog Rangely and can often be found running, biking, and exploring the beautiful forests, rivers, and hills of the Pioneer Valley.
