Caitlin Hurd was born in Boston Massachusetts, currently lives in Hatfield, MA. In 2000, she received a BFA in furniture design from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She went on to lead school-age children in creating public art projects for their communities. In 2006, she earned an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art. In 2017, Hurd founded the Artists Off Grid Residency program, taking artists off the grid to think, explore and create artwork without electricity or running water. She founded Spark Portraits, where she creates commissioned oil portraits. After spending nearly 20 years in New York, Hurd is celebrating her second anniversary as a resident of Western Mass, and continues her work as a professional artist and educator.
