Middle School Science 8
Science 8 introduces students to Astronomy and Physics. We first learn about our solar system before branching out into the space beyond within our Physics unit. Students will learn about the Sun-Earth-Moon System, bending the space-time continuum, gravity’s role in the universe, space geology and the challenges and opportunities in space exploration in their Astronomy unit. Physics topics include, force, velocity, acceleration, Newton’s Laws, kinetic and potential energy, collisions, transforming energy, and more. Each step of the way, students will be assessed on their ability to apply previously learned and new knowledge to new situations using project-based learning and hands-on lab activities. Eighth graders also learn academic and scientific skills that will help them become successful high school students.
