SBS Riders Succeed at Vermont Summer Festival

VermontResultsNewsStoneleigh-Burnham School had a very successful two weeks at the Vermont Summer Festival.

SBS Riding Instructor Marilyn Bennett said many ribbons were won in very competitive company, and five of the seven horses that SBS brought to the show were school-owned horses.

“We want to thank our grooms Gwen Maynard and Alex Kirik for all of their help,” Bennett said. “We could not have done it without them.”

Here are some results and highlights from the show:

Manchester Summer Festival: July 8-12
Julia Thayer on Stoneleigh-Burnham’s Vancouver won a Modified Children’s Hunter Class out of over 20 competitors, won both Restricted Children’s Hunter over fences classes, earning her the reserve championship in the division, and placed 1st and 2nd over fences in the Pre Children’s Hunter Fences also earning reserve champion in that division.

Eleanor Waugh on Stoneleigh-Burnham’s Alias B earned a 4th place in the 1.00 Jumper class out of over 20 competitors. She also had great rounds in the Low Children’s Adult jumpers and went double clear in the Low Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic.

Mily Ayala on Stoneleigh-Burnham’s Einstein earned great ribbons in the Modified Children’s Hunters and the Restricted Children’s Hunters. She won a Maiden Equitation Fences class, helping her earn enough points to be reserve champion in the division.

Mily Ayala on Stoneleigh Burnham’s Intrepid earned ribbons in the Modified Children’s Hunters, the Pre Children’s Hunters and the Restricted Children’s Hunters.

Naomi Waidlich on Stoneleigh-Burnham’s Azuro placed 3rd in the Ariat Adult Medal and earned ribbons in the Adult Hunters 18-35 division.

Naomi also brought her young horse Genius 1 who earned a 4th place in the NEHC Pleasure class. For Genius 1, this was his first time competing at a horse show!

Marilyn Bennett on Eleanor Waugh’s Balisano earned ribbons in the Low Hunters with over 50 in the division as well as a 5th place in the 1.00 jumpers with over 20 in the class.

Manchester Classic Horse Show: July 15-19
Julia Thayer and Vancouver continued their success earning more ribbons in the Modified Children’s Hunters and the Restricted Children’s Hunters.

Eleanor Waugh and Alias B moved up to the 1.10 Jumpers and earned a 3rd in the Children’s Jumper Highs and 6th in two 1.10 classes.

Mily Ayala and Einstein earned more ribbons in the Modified Children’s Hunters, the Restricted Children’s Hunters, and the Maiden Equitation.

Mily and Intrepid earned more ribbons in the Restricted Children’s Hunter and put in beautiful rounds in the very competitive Schooling Hunters.

Naomi Waidlich and Azuro decided to change it up  and show in the jumpers. Naomi had some great rounds and earned a 2nd in the Adult Low Speed class.
