SBS Riders Show Strongly at Westbrook Spring Fling

Stoneleigh-Burnham School riders showed strongly at the Westbrook Hunt Club, CT Spring Fling Horse Show April 23-26. Riding Instructor Marilyn Bennett accompanied SBS riders to the show and said, “We had a great time at the show despite the cold weather, and we can’t wait to be back on the road next week for the Saratoga Springs Horse Show.”

Here are the results:

Ellie Waugh ’17 on Stoneleigh Burnham’s horse Einstein placed 1st and 3rd in the Junior Equitation Fences. She placed 1st, 7th, and 8th in the Children’s Hunter Horse Division, and also received ribbons in the Suitable Hunter division.

Waugh on Stoneleigh Burnham’s horse Alias B placed 2nd and 3rd in the .90 meter jumpers, earning her Reserve Champion in the division. She was also 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 5th in the Low Child Adult Jumpers.

Valeria Serrano ’18 riding Stoneleigh Burnham’s horse Intrepid placed 1st, 1st, 3rd, and 6th in the Pre Children’s Hunters, earning her Reserve Champion in the division. She also placed 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd in the 2’0 Connecticut Training Hunters, earning her Reserve Champion in that division. She also received ribbons in the Schooling Hunters.

Julia Thayer ’18 riding Stoneleigh Burnham’s horse Vancouver won 3 out of 4 classes in the Children’s Equitation, earning her Champion in the division. She placed 1st, 2nd, and 4th in the Modified Children’s Hunters, earning her a Reserve Champion in that division. She also earned ribbons in the Low Hunters.

Thayer on her own horse Quixotic placed 3rd, 4th, and 8th in the Modifiied Children’s Hunter Division. She also placed 1st, 2nd, and 6th in the Special Hunters, and earned ribbons in the 2’3 Connecticut Training Hunters.

Sasha Kozlov ’20 on her own horse Don Diablo placed 4th, 4th, and 6th in the Low Child Adult Jumpers and earned 7th in the .90 meter jumpers.
