This course will prepare students to communicate in Mandarin with confidence and will build on skills acquired in Chinese I and Chinese II. It will enhance students’ familiarity with the Chinese culture and language. Rigorous practice of spoken and written Chinese in higher-level communication activities will be complemented by intensive drills to fine-tune pronunciation, expand vocabulary, and internalize more complex grammatical constructions. Students will develop their four skills through TPRS activities, comprehensible input, project-based tasks, creative writings regarding more advanced topics. Supplementary reading materials, such as short stories, will be employed. Special emphasis will be given to developing greater fluidity and flexibility in expression and response.
