Stoneleigh-Burnham School offers year-round riding lessons for the local Pioneer Valley community at the school’s Equestrian Center located in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Lessons are typically given during weeknights after 6 p.m. and all day on Sundays. The Community Riding program welcomes riders ages 8 and over as well as riders of all levels and English disciplines. Information for Riders

Please arrive at the barn at least 20 minutes before your lesson to prepare your horse and to be ready to start your lesson on time. You will also be responsible for cooling out your horse, picking up after it, cleaning the tack and putting everything away. Please note that if you are late, tacking up will become part of your lesson time.

Dress in comfortable pants, making sure not to wear anything too loose or too slippery. Please wear hard-soled, heeled shoes (no sneakers, high heels, or open-toed shoes) that cover the ankle. Riders are advised to bring their own approved hard hats — there are some schooling helmets, limited in sizes, available.

Each rider MUST have a properly signed Stoneleigh-Burnham School medical release form on file.

Important information about billing and lesson cancellation: Please notify George Halkett at (413)773-8333 or by email, ghalkett@sbschool.org of a cancellation at least 24 hours in advance, or you will be charged 50% of the lesson fee. If lessons are cancelled by the Community Riding program, all efforts will be made to notify you ahead of time.

Billing will be done at the end of each month or we can take payments at the time of lesson.  A finance charge will be added to bills not paid in full before the next billing cycle. Balances over 60 days mean forfeiture of the lesson slot and collection measures taken. Thank you for your cooperation!
