On Monday, January 9, the Humanities 7 class organized and hosted a Convention on Girls’ and Women’s Rights attended by six local schools, both private and public. With incredible attention to detail and to the needs of their guests, they designed a schedule that included a keynote speech, three rounds of booth rotations, a small group discussion, a performance, and a large group session to discuss, revise, and approve an updated Declaration of Sentiments. The keynote speech set the tone beautifully. The booth rotations were fun and educational, and the performance showed the students’ poise and talent. The group discussion was insightful and productive, and the final document is powerful. The students will do a bit of editing and then share it will the school communities, local media, and local, state, and federal officials. We are very proud of the 7th graders for a wonderful job on such an ambitious project.
