SBS Reduces Boarding Student Tuition

Stoneleigh-Burnham School (SBS), an independent day and boarding school in Greenfield, Massachusetts, has been a part of the Pioneer Valley community for more than 150 years. It attracts girls in grades 7-12 from more than 15 states and more than a dozen countries. The School is known for its powerful academics, as well as its debate and public speaking, performing and visual arts, athletics, and equestrian programs. SBS is the first girls’ boarding school in New England to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and 100% of its seniors are accepted to college year after year.

Last winter, in an effort to make a Stoneleigh-Burnham education accessible to more families in the Pioneer Valley, the School reduced its 2020-21 day tuition by upwards of 40%. To reinforce its commitment to boarding school affordability, SBS has significantly decreased boarding tuition for the 2021-22 school year, representing a 16% discount. SBS’s new tuition rates position them at the forefront of an important trend in independent school education; the School’s boarding tuition is now approximately 10% lower than the national average boarding school tuition.

“It was always the plan to reduce both day and boarding tuition, and I am immensely proud that the School’s new tuition rates will make an SBS education possible for more students,” said Head of School Stephanie Luebbers.

“We are committed to taking the lead in addressing the tuition crisis in the United States by making an SBS education a possibility for a much wider range of students,” added Assistant Head of School for Enrollment & Strategy Kristen Mariotti.
