For U.S. families of seniors: Did you know that families planning to send a child to college next fall can file their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) starting now? The U.S. Department of Education moved the FAFSA filing date up to October 1.
The benefits of the earlier filing date are:
Families will now use 2015 income and tax information.
This will eliminate the need for families to estimate incomes when completing the FAFSA.
FAFSA applicants can retrieve their tax data directly from the IRS.
