VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 – October 17, 2019

The SBS Community enjoyed their 150th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, Sept. 20. The entire staff, faculty, and students dressed to the nines and dined outside in the Nancy Lowe Diver ’53 MAB Courtyard.

Everyone contributed to the event. The Middle Schoolers worked with Dining Services on the menu, 9th grade arranged for the music, and the 10th grade did all the decorations and 150th Anniversary wooden key chains. The 11th grade used their photography skills to memorialize the event, and the 12th grade put together the programming for the evening.

Athena, our mascot, joined Breanna Ellison, president of the Class of 2022 for her toast.

“For the last 150 years, Stoneleigh-Burnham has offered opportunities for better education to girls from all over the world. On behalf of the 10th grade and Athena, here’s to many more years of girls’ education and the experiences they will have that inspire them to use their voices. We look forward to seeing the wonders that the girls who are lucky enough to experience this education will share with this world, and hearing the voices that will inspire others to share theirs too.”

The Stoneleigh-Burnham Alumnae Board held their first meeting of the academic year on Saturday, September 21. President Kate Strousse ’13 opened the meeting with a bonding exercise, Head of School Stephanie Luebbers gave an update on the start of the year and upcoming projects, and Director of Development and Alumnae Relations Susan Mattei reviewed the past fiscal year’s alumnae engagement, fundraising results, and our 150th Anniversary celebrations. Leaders from the Student Alumnae Association (SAA) sat in on the board meeting. For the full article, click here.

Mountain Day has looked different over the years. Now, members of the SBS community hike at Skinner State Park, enjoy the beautiful view from the Summit House, eat delicious food, and take a ton of selfies. After arriving at the summit, everyone enjoyed lunch and Mountain Day cake followed by a housemeeting and a musical performance.
