Gifting particular stock to charities is a prudent and thoughtful way to manage your money while helping a worthy cause. Because we are a small school, your gift goes a long way. Securities can be transferred from a donor's portfolio to Stoneleigh-Burnham School as a donation. The transfer can be accomplished over the phone, in person, or through the mail. Generally it is done when a donor is rebalancing a portfolio and either she or her broker determine that transferring held shares of stock will benefit the School while diminishing capital gains for the stockholder. Capital gains taxes are avoided or diminished by donating these stocks as transfers to a nonprofit organization. The transfer can be accomplished easily and securely by any of the three methods listed above.
Before performing the transfer you need first to inform the school that you are making the transfer by emailing Anne Bridge or by calling (413) 774-2711 ext. 262.
URGENT: In each case it is important that you notify Stoneleigh-Burnham of the transfer.
Otherwise we have no way of knowing to whom we should credit the gift.
